Going into recruitment I didn't really know much about how each round was different so I didn't know how to prepare for each round. So today, I want to tell you my best quick tips for sorority recruitment and focus on tips for each round that I wish I knew!

Hey, y'all! My name is Isabella, and I’m a college student learning how to navigate adulthood right alongside you!! Today, I am going to tell you my best pieces of advice & Quick Tips For Each Round Of Sorority Recruitment.

Ice Water Teas/First Round of Sorority Recruitment

This round is normally virtual and plays a short clip of their chapter & highlights all that their chapter does.

  • Do your research on each sorority.
    • What is their philanthropy, what kind of girls are in that chapter, what are their values?
  • Focus on what your first impression of each chapter is.
    • Write down your thoughts after each video. Did it make you excited and look like a chapter you wanted to join? Did it make you reluctant that it was a chapter you definitely did not align with? Did they seem really authentic in the video? etc.

PHILANTHROPHY/second round of sorority recruitment

This round is in person, and it focuses on telling the PNMs about each Philanthropy that the chapter contributes to.

  • Be prepared with questions to ask the members if the conversation stalls.
  • Think about your summer, your major, and where you want to get involved on campus.
    • They will likely ask you questions about these things, so come prepared to share abundantly about these topics to keep the conversation flowing.
    • Check out this list of questions they will probably ask you!
  • The beginning rounds are mostly about finding what girls may be interested in your chapter, so if you are in a house that you are interested in, show them by being engaging and authentic.
  • Get to know the girls! Focus on trying to figure out if these are the kinds of girls you get along with and can see yourself being in a chapter with.
  • Focus on first impressions!
    • It's not time to delve into the deep stuff yet, unless the conversation naturally flows in that direction.

sisterhood/third round of sorority recruitment

This round is in person and focuses on showing the PNMs the sisterhood & friendship that can be found in that chapter.

  • Focus on what you want to ask them.
    • Now it is getting down to where you have more control over picking which chapters you go back to, so focus on asking questions that will clarify which house is meant for you.
  • Find out why they love their chapter & see if it is something you could love too!
  • Discuss their friendships, relationships, memories, adventures, etc.
  • Find out if the chapter has the same values as you.

preference/fourth round of sorority recruitment

This round is in person and it focuses on encouraging the PNM through their tough preference decision and answering anymore questions they have.

  • Be vulnerable with the active members. You can tell them if you're having a hard time picking between two chapters, or alternatively, if you have already found your place somewhere else, or if you would love to be in that chapter.
    • In my preference round, I told the girl I was talking to, "I would love to be here tomorrow!" Referring to bid day the next day, and, sure enough, I was there!
  • Trust your gut!
  • Consider asking trusted family or friends which chapter they see you enjoying the most if you can’t decide.

I truly hope this post helped you feel more at ease and ready to take on sorority recruitment! I know it can be so overwhelming but just take it day by day. Remember that redirection from the path you wanted for yourself is God's loving protection for you and your life. You've got this!

With Love,

Isabella XO
