How To Find Christian Community In College?

Hey girls! Going to college soon or already in college and feeling lost trying to find a Godly community? I get it! Seriously, I've been there.

College brings about significant changes, and finding friendships that challenge you in your relationship with the Lord can be challenging. It's something I'm still working on, but here are the tips that have helped me so far.

Hey, y'all! My name is Isabella, and I’m a college student learning how to navigate adulthood right alongside you! Today, I will tell you How To Find a Christian Community In College!

1. Don't church hop for too long. Commit to a church.

With all the business of meeting people and prioritizing new friendships, it can become easy to brush off things that feel less urgent. Be intentional in finding a church that is restful and replenishing.

It's okay to church hop for a while! You don't have to commit to a church immediately; just ensure you are actively looking. An excellent way to church hop is to ask older girls to go to church with them to try different ones!

Then, commit to that church and become a member of that church family! Getting involved in your church is the #1 way to make that community!  As soon as you find the church family that you love and want to call home in your college town, be sure to jump in and get as involved in the community as possible.

2. Consider joining Christian organizations on your campus.

There are bound to be some Christian organizations on your campus for you to get involved in! It may take a little bit for you to find the organizations, but they are out there.

If you aren't able to find any organizations, then there is always the option to create your own!

3. Join Bible studies and community groups at your church.

Finding Christian community is difficult. I felt this way throughout my freshman year, and to be honest with you, it's not always easy.

Finding a genuinely Godly community that wholeheartedly seeks the Lord is very challenging, but what helped me grow in my Godly community was getting involved in a bible study at my church.

Getting involved in a group like this that meets sometime other than Sundays for church ensures that you will be surrounding yourself with other people who are intentionally seeking out that community,

4. Don't give up on your old friendships.

The desire for a godly community is remarkable, and the longing for community is one that the Lord has intentionally placed in the hearts of all humans. However, don't give up on your high school friendships or childhood friendships who may be chasing the world and running from the Lord.

First of all, staying friends with someone doesn't have to mean being their best friend. Just make sure they know you will always be there if they need you, and that you love them and are praying for them. Additionally, the Lord can use you to speak to them and help save them!

5. Pray for community.

Pray to the Lord, asking for that intentional community and for those meaningful friendships.

I truly hope this post helped you find ways to grow in a Godly community. The main thing I want y'all to take away from this is that it is ok to still be looking for friendships and growing in community throughout college! I am still growing in my college friendships, so please don't be discouraged.

Remember that social media is just a highlight reel, and no one really has it all together.

With Love,

Isabella XO
