16 Best Dorm Room Organizers We Would Buy Over And Over

Overwhelmed about how you're going to organize your stuff and fit it all in a tiny dorm room? I get it! Seriously. I stressed about it for months. Here are all of these best items that helped me to stay organized and stress free in my dorm room that I'm positive you will want to know.

Hey, y'all! My name is Isabella, and I’m a college student learning how to navigate adulthood right alongside you! Today I will tell you about the 16 Best Dorm Room Organizers We Would Buy Over And Over.

1. Shoe Organizer

This is an AMAZING space saver. In my dorm room, I put this inside my closet door so it was out of sight.

It is practical and a phenomenal use of space. Keeping shoes off the floor helps prevent your closet from looking cluttered and keeps your organized. It also helped prevent me from bringing too many shoes.

I also had a basket on the shelf in my closet, which I used for more oversized shoes, such as my rain boots.

TIP: Keep a bin in the bottom of your closet to store boots and bulky shoes in. This is helpful if you don't have any vertical space in your closet as mentioned above.

2. clear storage drawers

These target clear storage drawers are essential! They fit perfectly under a lofted dorm bed and have wheels on the bottom for easy accessibility.

Also being the Type A person that I am I love that I can easily see precisely what is inside of them and label them for easy recognition.

These are the medium ones, but they also have large ones, which I have used for 2 years and will continue to use!

3. storage organizer to hold your fridge and organize food

This was such a space saver for us! One of the best tips is to use vertical space wisely in a dorm room, and this shelf helped us do just that.

You could also get a shelving unit with doors so you can hide away all of your food to make it look slightly cleaner!

I can't find the exact brand we used, but I linked an alternative on Amazon that has the exact same layout and shelving. We bought the white version.

4. Storage Ottoman

Last year, my roommate and I bought matching ones from Dorm Decor, which were perfect.

They are sturdy and hold so much! I used mine to store my towels and extra sheets and will use mine again this year.

5. Storage mirror

We just had a standard mirror on the back of the door into our room. It worked perfectly for us and was a great use of space.

However, you could get one that opens if you want extra space. It is perfect for jewelry and accessories, which I recommend because I struggled to find an efficient way to store them.

6. Desk hutch or over-the-bed hutch

Before purchasing, research the dimensions of your room and desk on your university's website.

These are a very efficient use of space and allow for more room to add decor and personalization!

I bought a used one off of Facebook marketplace, which is a great alternative.

TIP: Place baskets for storage on top of your desk hutch to use more vertical space! I wish I had taken advantage of this in my dorm. These baskets will keep these shelves from looking cluttered and add extra storage.

7. Bedside caddy

I wish I had one last year, honestly. I usually keep chapstick, a book, tissues, my bible, pens and pencils, and more on my nightstand.

This meant I had to keep these things on my desk hutch beside my bed. That quickly made it look cluttered, so I would consider getting one of these to keep your space decluttered.

The velcro ones never work, so I highly recommend a hanging one like this for a dorm bed.

8. Cube Drawer Organizers

These are so practical because you can use them for anything! They're great for organizing an undergarments drawer, and I also use them for athletic tops.

They help you limit what you bring and what clothes you keep at college because they keep them all in one place.

9. Double closet rod

I have linked the exact one I have, and I love it! I used this last year and this year to put my tops on the top rod and my shorts and skirts on the bottom rod.

It is essential to maximizing my closet space, and I highly recommend it to organize your dorm room.

10. Space-saving hangers

I’ve been recommended these before and think they are brilliant and helpful.

You could use these as an alternative to the double closet rod, but I find the double closet rod to be more functional for me.

This is another excellent way to store clothes, especially clothes you don't reach for very often.

11. clear acrylic Shelf dividers

If you need a way to organize folded clothes on a shelf, I highly recommend these! They help organize your shelving space vertically.

Make sure you find a measurement that works for your space.

12. Bed Risers

These are some of the most essential dorm room organizers for maximizing vertical space, in my opinion!

It helps you fit more under your bed and enables you to do so in an organized way. I have used these for 2 years in a row.

Again, this is a perfect way to maximize your vertical dorm room space!

13. Hanging Fabric Shelves

These are another great option to maximize folding space.

They're sturdy and easy to hang in your closet.

14. Snack Organizing Bins

I wish I had something like this last year to take advantage of vertical space.

This would also eliminate oversized packaging, saving space and keeping you organized.

An option like this would help you see what food you have more quickly, so things don't expire before you eat them because you forgot about them.

15. Over the toilet organizer

My roommate and I have one of these, which is truly so practical.

It keeps everything organized and out of the way, and again, it is an excellent use of vertical space.

We store our feminine products and toilet paper in ours. You can also store cleaning products in it! The exact one we have is currently unavailable so I linked a similar one by the same brand.

16. Mini Fridge Storage sleeve

Take any chance you can to optimize space.

This over-the-fridge sleeve will add extra storage space while helping you stay organized and clean.

I truly hope this post helped you plan out your dorm room and maximize your space. For more dorm room tips be sure to check out 28 Insanely Good Dorm Room Essentials You Won't Be Able To Live Without or 11 Tips To Prepare For College Dorm Move-In Day.
