5 Simple Tips For Staying Comfortable During Sorority Recruitment

Sorority recruitment can be so overwhelming. I get it! I've been there. These are my top 5 tips for staying comfortable during sorority recruitment.

I have given a lot of advice for the mental aspects of sorority recruitment in my previous posts like 8 Crucial Sorority Recruitment Do's And Don'ts and Exactly How To Prepare For Sorority Recruitment 2025. So instead, this one is focusing on 5 tips for staying phyiscally comfortable during sorority recruitment.

Hey, y'all! My name is Isabella, and I’m a college student learning how to navigate adulthood right alongside you! Today I will tell you my 5 best tips to stay phyiscally comfortable during sorority recruitment.

1. bring shoes to change into in between parties

I highly recommend bringing comfy shoes for walking around between parties and to the sorority houses. This is crucial if you have a relatively far walk to the sorority houses from your car or dorm.

I would wear them anytime I wasn't in a party and then change into them before going into a house. This helped me rest comfortably in between parties.

I own these pillow slides on Amazon and wore those, which I have linked below. They definitely weren't cute, but they sure were comfy! And not to worry, the sorority girls won't see you in them.

2. Come prepared

Pack your rush bag with everything you need to stay comfortable throughout recruitment! This could include deodorant, bandaids, haircare, medicine, etc.

Check out my list of Exactly What To Pack In Your Rush Bag For Recruitment. These were the ride-or-die essentials that genuinely carried me through recruitment and the things I forgot, so y'all can learn from my mistakes and come prepared!

3. pick outfits that are comfortable & can be long-lasting

I recommend you be intentional when picking out your recruitment outfits to ensure they are truly comfortable and can withstand a long day going in and house of houses.

By long lasting, I mean you will be standing up in the sun for hours, in and out of parties all day, talking and meeting so many new people from roughly 9 to 3 if you have a full day. You could get nervous and get pit stains, sit down too much, and completely wrinkle your outfit, etc. Check out How To Put Together The Perfect Sorority Recruitment Outfits for all my tips!

For example, one of my outfits had a safety pin in it to make it fit the way I wanted it to, and proved difficult sometimes, so try to avoid things like this.

TIP: Make sure you can sit in your outfits, are comfortable, and won't flash people! Some chapters sit down with their PNMs while talking to them, so make sure you are prepared to do so.

4. take care of your body

Take care of your body consistently. There is a lot of change when getting thrown into a new chapter of your life, but I guarantee all of these new opportunities will not be fun if you don't take care of your health.

These are my best tips to help keep your body healthy during recruitment!

  • Drink tea to soothe your throat & make sure you don't lose your voice.
  • Consistently drink water throughout each day to stay hydrated.
  • Please eat good, substantial food so you don't pass out.
  • Take your vitamins.
  • Prioritize 8-10 hours of sleep.
  • Cheer yourself on mentally! Make sure you remember that our God is the one who defines you, not sororities.

Sorority recruitment can be a mentally and physically taxing process, so be sure you are fueling your body to handle all of your commitments for the day.

5. know your limits

Sorority recruitment can be a long, tiring, and eventful week. As I mentioned above, it can be pretty easy to run yourself ragged trying to make new friends and experience your college town while trying to go through recruitment.

But it is ok to rest! Just because you had to decline one dinner with someone does not mean you won't make friends.

Listen to your body because it is important to put your best foot forward every day in each house that you go in. Give yourself grace and know your limits.

I truly hope this post helped ease your mind just a little bit about sorority recruitment and helped you feel more prepared. Check out any of my other posts on sorority life here because I have provided so much information that I wish I knew when going through recruitment.

I'm cheering you on! You've got this!
