11 Tips To Stay Healthy In College As A Busy Student

Hey, y'all! My name is Isabella, and I’m a college student learning how to navigate adulthood right alongside you!! Today I will help you determine how to stay healthy in college as a busy student!!

Are you overwhelmed and tired from trying to balance your life in college? It can be so difficult to stay on top of your school work, maintain a social life, have free time, and stay healthy. I get it! I hope I can help so here are my top 11 tips to stay healthy in college as a busy student.

Listen to your body

You have to learn how to understand your body, what negatively affects it and what positively affects it. And then once you understand what effects it, you have to actually listen to your body and do what it needs…or don't do what it does not need.

Overall, be mindful of your body because no one knows your body like you do.

Know how foods and drinks affect your body

This goes along with the previous point. Nutrition is crucial to your success. Think of it somewhat lilek “What you put in is what you get out”.

This should be applied meaning essentially if you fuel your body with nutritious food then you will feel healthy, energetic, and sustained. If you put highly processed junk food into your body you will feel sluggish, lethargic, and unfulfilled from your meal.

Sleep

Get plenty of sleep! I cannot stress this enough. It is so attainable to get at least 8 hours of sleep nightly.

Observe how your body feels with different amounts of sleep and find the amount that works the best for you.

Exercise

Move your body! A brief workout of any kind always puts me in a good mood and is my absolute favorite way to start my day.

Find hobbies

Find an activity that relaxes you. Ask yourself what are your hobbies and destressors that allow you to relax? It can't be any electronics though, doom scrolling is not a true form of rest.

I've always thought of picking something that is actively resting instead of passively resting. Active resting is doing something that makes you feel happy, calms your stress, or quiets your mind. This could be working out, crafting, making music, reading, and so much more.

Just be sure that using electronics to watch TV or Tik Tok is not your only form of “rest”.

Become attached to your water bottle

I have come into the habit of just taking my water bottle with me absolutely everywhere. Being sure to stay hydrated is one of the best ways to feel energized.

There are simply no negative effects of staying hydrated so do your best to make this a habit!

Set goals for yourself and pick habits you want to adapt

College is a crucial time in your life because the habits you form nwo are habits you will most likely continue after post-grad and possibly forever.

Make sure you are dreaming big and pursuing your dreams while you don’t have very much to lose.

Eat healthy snacks

This goes back to fueling your body. Make sure you fuel your body even with snacks. Fruit and veggies make excellent snacks. Recently my favorite snacks have been fresh mozzarella, pistachios, and fruit.

Invest in yourself

I know you probably don't have much money if you’re a college student…because same. But make sure you invest in taking care of yourself.

Whether that is quality supplements or making sure your nails stay done. Making sure you physically feel good genuinely plays a role.

For example, I learned how to do my nails because it makes me feel more put together. When I look put together I genuinely have a better day and I encourage you to try this and see how it affects you!

Limit your caffeine intake

Don’t live off of caffeine. Prioritize your general health, sleep, and nutrition so that you won't have to live off of coffee to stay awake or feel energized.

Of course it is completely fine on occasion just be conscious of what kind of caffeine you are putting into your body and how often.

Keep your space clean

This goes along with looking good and feeling good. Being sure  to maintain a clean and organized space always helps keep my mind clear and eases my stress.

Plan free time

If you are someone who likes to stay busy and always has to fill free time…like me…then designate down time! I myself have been teaching myself how to rest and prioritize down time.

I hope these tips helped you feel more prepared to tackle your busy college life. Remember to take care of yourself because you only get one body, treat it well! You are so loved!

With Love,

Isabella XO
