5 Tips To Know For The First Week Of College Classes

Hey, y'all! My name is Isabella, and I’m a college student learning how to navigate adulthood right alongside you!! Today, I will give you my top 5 tips to know for the first week of college classes!!

Classes have just started at my university! I hope you all have a wonderful school year and are excited about what's to come. Remember to put a smile on your face and make the most of it!

  1. Walk your classes before your First Day Of Class.
    • This will alleviate some of the stress of your first day of class by allowing you to look around your classroom. Some buildings can also be extremely confusing, so this is essential. Don’t be afraid to ask someone for help if you’re lost!
  2. Introduce yourself to the teacher on the first day.
    • This can only have a positive outcome by showing the teacher you care and helping the teacher become familiar with you. Most of my classes had a long line; just go stand in the line. If anything, this should show you how many people think it is useful to do.
  3. Be early.
    • This is pretty self-explanatory but important nonetheless. The teachers will appreciate it. Additionally, it will give you a few minutes to collect yourself and meet new people in your class before it starts. As you go through the next few weeks, you will determine the most efficient routes to get to and from classes.
  4. Prepare to take notes in case your teacher jumps right into notes.
    • Most teachers review their syllabus and class layout for the semester on the first day or week of classes. However, some teachers start notes at the end of the first class or continue throughout the week. Be conscious of how you want to take notes for each class and come prepared with the required materials.
  5. Prepare yourself to make new connections.
    • It is always helpful to have a friend or acquaintance in every class. I try to make at least one friend in my classes and get their phone number or Snapchat. You never know when you will have to miss a class, whether for sickness or emergency or when you have a question about an assignment.

With Love,

Isabella XO
